JFN/FJC Matching Grants Initiative for Camper Incentives

The Jewish Funders Network (JFN) and The Foundation for Jewish Camp are delighted to announce a new Matching Grants Initiative for Camper Incentives. The Foundation for Jewish Camp is generously providing up to $2,000,000 in capital in the form of matching funds for this initiative.

This initiative offers dollar-for-dollar matches for first-time (or 3 x increased) grants of $25,000 - $50,000 USD by Jewish Funders Network members to provide financial incentives to Jewish campers attending Jewish overnight summer camps for the first time.

Campership Incentive Program

By offering financial incentives to campers' families, FJC drives higher enrollment in Jewish camps across North America.

FJC received a $15 million gift-the largest ever in the field of Jewish camping-for the purpose of creating incentive programs across North America to encourage parents to send their children to Jewish nonprofit camps.

With the support of this gift, FJC is working with local Jewish federations, synagogue movements, professionals, funders and camping leaders to create new programs in local communities. The Campership Incentive Program will provide matching grants, one-to-one in the first year and receding thereafter, aimed at launching incentive programs that will then be supported by the community long-term. FJC will work closely with participating communities, sharing best practices and discussing methodology to maximize the reach and breadth of the program. If you are interested in bringing the program to your local community, please contact Abby Knopp at abby@jewishcamping.org.

Communities with tuition inducements show increased enrollment at Jewish overnight camps and children receiving camper incentives will return to camp long after the incentive grant has concluded.

This program has some very specific goals and parameters.

  1. Only first time campers are eligible. (Some communities may also opt for a returning campers program.)
  2. Minimum camp length of stay is three weeks.
  3. Incentive grants can only be used for the nonprofit overnight Jewish summer camps affiliated with the Foundation for Jewish Camp. For a full listing of these camps, please visit the Find a Camp directory.
  4. This program is meant as an outreach program for children who do not receive an intensive Jewish experience during the year.

Campers who have been accepted to the JWest Campership Program are NOT eligible for the Campership Incentive Program and vice versa.

The Foundation for Jewish Camp is not administering these programs. All questions must be sent directly to the contact organization. For full details or questions about existing programs please visit the websites or email the contacts linked below:
